They don't make skates the way they used to! Back in the day, you bought a pair of blades like these, screwed them into your bare heels, and fixed the front with an Ace bandage. Off you go!
I'm joking but I'm curious how the heel part worked. The front would be clamped onto a boot with a leather strap (not included). Love the curvature on the tip. They were manufactured by a German maker of skates and other goods, Eduard Engels. The middle of the blade is stamped "Staalsat" - stall means steel in some languages but I am not quite sure what the "sat" part means.
