For over 100 years, Bergans of Norway has been a leading producer of outdoor sports equipment, focusing on hiking, camping, and skiing. Founder Ole Ferdinand Bergan invented the external frame backpack, and this example shows the evolution of the style.
This (approx) 30-litre capacity canvas/leather rucksack is in remarkably good condition given its age. Sporting a classic external steel frame, this backpack is incredibly comfortable to wear, even when carrying heavy loads. Three external pockets provide additional storage and allow quick access to supplies.
Bearing its original markings, the backpack will be great for display, or better, use for its intended purpose!! NOTE: this is a pretty spacious bag. Probably not best for a packed subway ride from Brooklyn into Manhattan - I wore it onto the plane from Oslo recently and whacked some dude in business class with the bottom of the frame. For hiking, it would be DOPE.
