The Gjøvik Skifabrikk in Norway produced wooden skis for nearly 50 years. The factory marketed their product under the name "Toppen", which means "the top" in Norwegian. These skis themselves are from the end of Toppen's run as a wood ski maker in the 1970s.
These pairs were discovered as part of a larger stash under a mountain cabin above Lillehammer. Strange, but true. Not sure why the skis were there, but maybe there is a future true crime podcast that will dig into it!!!
The bases are hickory, with lignostone edges. The original base treatment is still on the skis. The tops are factory-exit shiny; however, given the age of the skis there are occasional dings and scratches.
"Baklesbag" is the Norwegian word for the metal protective clamp on the tail of some of the skis. See individual items.
