HIGHLY desirable birch base, hickory edge PELTONEN Erikoiskilpa ("Special Racing") cross-country skis. So why are these in the BARGAIN BIN!!!? Because they had a replacement strip of hickory glued on the tip of one of the skis, that's why. The story is that Moose was so excited to try these skis when he first acquired them way back in 2022 that he hopped right on them without looking at the bases, which had a couple of loose strips. One strip broke off and ended buried in the snow. He searched and searched, but that strip of hickory is STILL somewhere in a Finnish forest, location long forgotten.
Aside from that, the decals on these skis are in good shape, and the paint has been refreshed. They look great. Karhu-brand aluminium 4-pin racing bindings give the skis a proper period look.
