Did you know that Magne Myrmo of Norway as the last person to win a World Championship or Olympic gold medal on wood skis? It's true! In 1974, on a pair of skis very much like these. Don't believe me? Check out the last two pics, taken on a recent visit to the Holmenkollen skimuseet in Oslo.
Ski nerds might debate whether these skis are "real" wood skis; by this time manufacturers were experimenting with coating the bases of skis with epoxy-base pastes that would harden and produce a more hydro-phobic surface than bare hickory or birch. Landem's was called "plastrelagt" (lit. "plastic wood") and smells like creosote if it gets too hot. Ask me how I know.
Regardless, the rest of the skis are traditional treski. The bases and tops have seen wear, which is why we are selling them at such a bargain price! But they will run as well as any wood ski, and you will have a good story to tell about them.
See our other Landsem items in the t-shirts and drinking glasses sections!!!!
Bindings have been removed to prevent damage to the bases of the skis during shipment, and will be included in a recycled granola bag with the package.
