Beeeee-yooo-tiful 50+ year old Järvinen wood cross-country racing skis. In FANTASTIC condition. All the cool decals are nearly fresh-from-the-factory intact. RARE "plastik" edges, meaning that you will zip around the corners while your competition shreds hickory and ends up in the trees! No weird 4-pin Finnish bindings here; these are ready for your fave pair of 3-pin shoes. 215cm!!! Big guys rejoice!!!!
Esko Järvinen of Lahti, Finland, was already an accomplished ski racer when he decided to apply his knowledge to the manufacture of skis. His skis were heavily marketed in the USA, hence the domestic interest that still exists for the brand. Järvinen wood skis are also very narrow; only a couple of mm wider than modern racing skis. This example, the second-to-last version of top-of-the line Järvinens, also featured a narrow, high point "javelin" tip, which had the habit of getting caught on things, often causing premature death for the ski.
The general fragility of these skis makes this pair a survivor, and one that has grown more beautiful with age! Skifabrikk techs took their time to restore the tops and bases of these skis to maximize appearance and functionality, and the results are impressive. While not a "numbers matching" pair - wood racing skis had a tendency to break easily so it was not uncommon for two skis from different original pairs to be brought together - these skis are identical in camber, graphics, and base condition. There are a few nicks and dings that have happened over time, but they do not affect function.
