Who doesn't love a pair of Splitkein Sprints? Pål Tyldum loved his, and grimaced his way to victory in the 50K in '72 on an epoxy-base model. These are the "green" version, which as far as I can tell means that are a straight hickory base, and that the surface stain bleeds onto the bases.
The trolls at Skifabrikk took the restoration of these skis very seriously, given their rarity. Old wood racing skis had a tendency to be fragile, but these have survived! We touched up the tops and scraped, sanded, and tarred the bases.
Don't let that soft camber scare you off! Just block them and bring them to the sauna at the Y a few times and they will be nice and springy by the time the snow falls again!
