Wow, these are nice skis. And super light - just a few grams heavier than modern race skis. This pair is an example from the apex of the woodski era, and also at the end of it. Birch base skis were the lightest on the market, and preferred in cold conditions. The fact that these skis have never been tarred speaks to this - the very cold and dry conditions that exist in Finland require less protection against moisture. Plus tar adds weight, and every gram counts!
Recently brought back from Finland, these skis have been cleaned up but that's about it - no touch-ups and just a light base cleaning and sanding. Nothing else required. Skifabrikk staff had the opportunity recently to ski on a similar pair of late-model Järvinen racers, and once you have the balance dialed in, the skis are a joy to use.
