This is a flat-out beautiful example of Järvinen's mid-60s "popular" racing ski. They are unique in that they have the "Erikoiskilpa" (special racing) badge as well, which was normally reserved for the top end racing skis. They are just slightly heavier than the top racing model. The 4-pin bindings are period correct. The skis are unique in that they feature a vertical hickory lamination - likely related to the "JF Suksi" patent reference below the heel. Other wood skis featured horizonal laminations, so the vertical lamination technique was an experiment to take advantage of the additional strength associated with this construction.
The bases have seen very little use. Skifabrikk techs have smoothed them, and to protect them applied a light-coloured pine tar that allows the grain of the wood and laminations to be appreciated.
NOTE: The original 4-pin bindings will be removed prior to shipment of the skis to prevent damage to the bases.
