Beautiful, completely unused, never drilled, bright and shiny, pair of early 70s wood racing ("langrenn") skis from Blå-Skia.  We recently picked these up during an undercover ski retrieval mission to Norway.  Through cunning and guile, we were able to extract this pair from a dingy basement, across enemy lines, past suspecting airline check-in agents, and to their new home in the USA.  Maybe yours?

Background on the brand - Blå-Skia, in Norwegian, literally  means "the blue ski".  Blå-Skia was an early pioneer in wood racing skis; its founder, Ivar Halvorsen worked early in his career under one of the first producers of laminated wood skis.  Halvorsen took this knowledge and applied it to the world of ski racing, developing light, fast skis with different cambers for different snow conditions.  However, like all but 2 Norwegian ski manufacturers (Madshus and Åsnes), Blå-Skia was swept away by the tide of equipment innovation that hit the nordic ski industry in the 1970s, and by the early 80s the company had closed.

The edges of the skis are made of lignostone, which is a hard, compressed beech product that was developed specially for wood skis.

Skifabrikk ski techs have over 50 years of experience skiing, racing, and preparing cross-country skis, both wood and fiberglass.  Please contact us with any questions.
