This is a beautiful pair of mid-1960s wood racing ("langrenn") skis from Blå-Skia. There is a fun story behind these - they were acquired from an estate liquidator in Pennsylvania. So the next question would be, what was a pair of the finest racing skis of the era, doing in Pennsylvania? Well, the truth is that it used to snow there, and they held ski races! Skifabrikk staff even have proof in the form of trophies!
There was nothing done to the tops of the skis other than a good cleaning, so they maintain their original "patina", including a few nicks and scratches. The decals on these skis are beautiful - waterslide was replaced by direct application of paint and screen printing in the next generation of Blå-Skias. The bases have been sanded and treated with Swix pine tar, providing a rich, dark finish.
Bindings will be removed for shipment, to protect the ski bases from damage.
