If these skis look to you like they are different, you are right!! Consider them "fraternal twins". Other than the graphics, these skis are identical. The "retki" model was a wide off-track touring ski, suitable for tromping through the woods or patrolling the Finnish border. This pair comes with lightweight "kisa" (race) 4-pin bindings from Karhu.
Helsinki-based Karhu (Finnish for "bear") has equipped skiers ranging from the Finnish army to World Champions such as Harri Kirvesniemi. They focus more now on footwear and apparel; the former still bearing the "M" striping that refers to "mestari", the Finnish word for champion. Fun fact: in the 50s Karhu used a three-stripes branding on its footwear, but sold it to a fledgling German sports equipment maker.
These skis didn't need much work to get them in near-new condition. Some polishing of the tops and cleaning of the base and they were ready to go. Birch bases are finished with hickory edges for sharp cornering in most conditions.
