Helsinki-based Karhu (Finnish for "bear") has equipped skiers ranging from the Finnish army to World Champions such as Harri Kirvesniemi. They focus more now on footwear and apparel; the former still bearing the "M" striping that refers to "mestari", the Finnish word for champion. Fun fact: in the 50s Karhu used a three-stripes branding on its footwear, but sold it to a fledgling German sports equipment maker.
In the 1950s when these skis were made, Karhu was a full-on ski maker. Made from a single piece of wood, these solid boards can perform pretty much any tough task, including skiing. But you might prefer to hang them in the bar/man cave/she shed - no judgement.
Sporting 6-pin "Voitto" (victory) clamp bindings, these skis retain their original tip logos, which for some reason were doubled up in production. The bases have been rubbed down with some fresh "terva" (tar) from - shhhh - Norway!
