Järvinen of Lahti, Finland, was the premier manufacturer of cross-country skis in the country from the 1930s to the 1980s. The "Erikoiskilpa" label on equipment meant it was top-of-the line - the word means "special racing". These poles feature classic bamboo ring baskets (with a couple of repairs, see pics) and leather handles/straps. One of the poles has vertical cracks in the shaft, which is common with bamboo poles of a certain age. The typical fix is shown in the last picture - tape wrapped around the cracked area. The buyer can add additional reinforcement if desired (or Skifabrikk can do it if asked); black tape rings on bamboo poles make for a great classic look!
