Howard Head was a revolutionary innovator in the alpine ski world, using creative approaches to ski manufacture that resulted in Olympics-winning gear. These poles didn't win the Olympics, and were not even made by the Head company, but through a manufacturer in Norway. But Head saw an opportunity in the Nordic ski boom of the 1970s and didn't want to miss out. So we have bamboo poles that bear the Head name. Durable plastic handles and black plastic baskets.
