The handles say "Müller Swiss" but the features of the poles scream Finland. These were likely produced in Suomi for the Swiss brand of sports equipment. The strap design that allows adjustment through a hole at the top of the bamboo shaft, is very Finnish. And, well, they were bought in Finland. So if it walks like a duck....
Cork is still a popular material for nordic skiing and trekking poles. Moose swears by it for his midpacker racing kit. Cork is not very durable, but it has a nice feel and some think that it gives you more control of the pole. The cork on these poles is in remarkably good shape, and shows wear due to extensive use. Oh if these poles could talk.
The small, four-point leather plastic baskets mark these as likely racing poles from the late 1960s or early 1970s.
